Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life

Of the seven “I am” revelations in the Gospel of John, the bread of life passage is the longest and most detailed about God’s plan for humanity through His Son.

Jesus reveals that God the Father sent Jesus to the earth to give life to the world. He who eats of this living bread will receive eternal life and live forever. The bread is Jesus’ flesh.

He also reveals that He satisfies fully. Jesus said, “He who comes to Me shall never hunger. He who believes in Me shall never thirst” (John 6:35). Jesus fulfills a person completely, fully, totally, for eternity. Humans were created to know Him and walk with Him, forever. Amen!

Jesus reveals that to receive life, one must eat His flesh and drink His blood. Unless a person eats His flesh and drinks His blood, they have no life in them. After this teaching, many of Jesus’ disciples went back and walked with Him no more.

Ten times in the passage, Jesus teaches about His divine, holy relationship with His Father. As the living Father sent Jesus, and Jesus lives because of the Father, so he who feeds on Jesus will live because of Jesus.

Before and after the passage, Jesus revealed the living water, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of Jesus Christ. He is the key to knowing God. In fact, He is God! The Lord, the Lord your God, is one: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen!
